Providing ballet, creative dance, and creative writing classes to children across the United States.
Support Our MissionBringing the world of ballet and creative arts to children who need it most
BFTWI works to offer ballet, creative dance, and creative writing classes to unhoused children in the United States who cannot afford the tuition of extracurricular programs.
Through volunteer and local population support, we dedicate ourselves to providing a safe space for children to promote their artistic development.
Developing literacy and self-expression.
Building confidence through movement.
Creating supportive environments for growth.
We aim to make fine arts programs accessible to children of all backgrounds.
Historically, the fine arts have been status-oriented and/or discriminatory and have marginalized populations from participation. For us, the fine arts should be created in the community for the community.
We are a student-led organization based in Florida. We invite undergraduate students worldwide to join us in making the fine arts accessible to children.
Founded at Daytona State College to provide dance classes at Hope Place emergency shelter
Expanded with creative writing program through United Way grant
Secured three additional scholarships for children at Hope Place
Measuring our reach and contribution to children's lives in 2024
Our impact extends beyond statistics. Each class represents a moment of creative discovery for a child. Each partnership creates new opportunities. Behind these numbers are real stories of children finding joy in movement, strength in expression, and confidence in creation.
Through ballet and creative writing, these children aren't just learning new skills—they're discovering new possibilities for their futures. Every class is a step toward greater confidence and self-expression.
Ballet for the World Initiative expands its mission to provide access to dance education for children in the highlands of the Sololá department in Guatemala.
Our partnership with Transformación Ballet, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Guatemala, began in 2020 when the founder and director of BFTWI started volunteering to teach children dance via Zoom. In 2021, she moved to the highlands of Guatemala to continue supporting children in person. After that, she continued working as part of their advisory board and has taught in-person and online lessons, including pointe shoes exclusive training to the students.
This year, BFTWI learned that Transformación Ballet will be closing its doors. Thus, we have decided to develop a remote program to support these children in continuing with their dance education, English tutoring, and spiritual lessons in partnership with college students from Stetson University.
